Kimberley has been practicing for over a decade, starting in community mental health, working in the educational system, the criminal justice system, teaching parenting classes, working on a crisis hotline, and, for the last decade, private practice. She has continued her training offering a blend of classic theory with the latest research in neurobiology. While she borrows from many theories, she brings a relational style to each client, putting them at the center of what she does.
Her specialties include working with couples and those who have experienced trauma. She frames her work starting with the biological needs of all humans; the need to feel connected and the need to feel protected. Sometimes these needs compete with each other and the need to protect ourselves drives us to survival mode which does not lead to greater connection. Kimberley will offer tools and point out relational patterns that often keep you stuck and feeling trapped in a repeating cycle that leads to feeling disconnected. Rather than pathologize these behaviors and beliefs, she views them as ways we adapt to our environment, often in the name of self protection. She will help you reimagine your life in a way that matters to you.
